I was gonna put this in Conflicts and Issues since for me, it kind of is, but I figured maybe I'm not the only one with these problems. So I thought, "Why not make one for people to share ideas?"
For me, this is strictly OCs and not fan-characters or the actual canon characters of some franchise.
Anyway, here's what I fear: - Making my characters sound too alike one another when I write at times. - Smaller vocabulary than the person I'm RPing with. I feel bad writing the same thing so many times and am afraid of this bothering them too. - RPing "over the top" or "blandly". Two extremes.
I don't know. I could elaborate more if need be.

Honestly? The best way to do that is sit down (or force, if they're being particularly resistant), and explore EVERY aspect of what you know so far of their personality and their consciousness. What they do why they do, what pushes their buttons, what softens them, and in turn, can figure out how to interact respectively with other characters. And if they're not developed yet, well, that's half the fun. You get to experiment and see what works and what doesn't; what you keep as their canon personality, and what you wanna scrap.

From what you've seen, what do you think I need to work on most? D:>;;
