No, this isn't about the board.
It isn't about off-site drama, and it isn't about our AUs.
I just wanted to share something that donned on me today, for the first time in a while.
This obsession--this LOVE--we all share....these universes we collab on and/or bicker about....these pairings we discuss--ALL of it--all stems from ONE man. The shows we've been arguing about....the characters we've grown to adore or despise....wouldn't have even come into existance if it weren't for the brilliant, beautiful mind of Walt Disney.
A man who's memory and legacy long out-lived him.
But he WAS a man once upon a time ago. A man with ideas and a man with dreams that he not only worked to make come true, but found a way to share them with the world. His movies, television programs and now his theme parks....they're MORE than just a fandom, and possess something far more important than a way for society to exploit for money. In EVERYTHING we see today, even if we critique the acting, the script or animation....it's all DISNEY. And Disney is more than just a company's name. It's a man's name. The name of the man without whom NONE of our favorite characters, pairings or even love children would exist.
Walt and his genius, beautiful, creativity started everything.
Thought it would be nice to remind everyone of that.
Title borrowed from the "One Man's Dream" attraction at Disney's Hollywood Studios

^_^ It hit me REALLY hard today, walking through a room/building. I watched a production called "moments with Lincoln" who was WALT'S role model....and all the work he put into bring his idol to life, forever, and sharing him with the world. I actually teared up when an old video describing the process came on screen, and Walt was there DOING the describing.
Abe did so much, but Walt, too, did as much as his hero in a different respect. Outside of Tim Burton and Stan Lee, Walt Disney is the man I respect and admire above all animators/creative people.

Well...I agree with this. Not only the characters, Well, without Walt´s creations my childhood would be very....empty.

Thanks ^_^ I feel like people often forget that he DID start it all. And they forget to appreciate Disney for what it is: one man's dream come true

I think we all forget it at times. Throw his name around like a ragdoll and such. But it's true. /ughwords

...I never really thought of it that way before, but yeah, you're completely right.
If not for Walt's creations, I'd probably still be obsessing over Star Wars >_<[/s]

As a side note, I absolutely adore the One Man's Dream attraction. One of my favorite things at Disney World.
I couldn't agree more. Without Walt, we wouldn't have any of these wonderful characters to obsess over in the first place.

I agree with fang, without Disney my childhood wouldn't be a childhood. Disney movies were a big part of my life, and I still remember myself watching The Lion King for the first time. Thanks for bringing this up Tex. It's really made me remember to appreciate all that Walt Disney has given us. ^_^
