I know, not a good idea given I haven't even gotten all the requests for my previous contest but I really feel I need them. The last contest was spur of the moment and done out of greediness. This time I really do need the characters.
You don't have to be able to draw to enter but at least have a good dollmaker handy or be very VERY good at describing the OCs physical appearance.
Rules:
- Submit as many as you come up with.
- Include as much on their personality and back story as you possibly can. Small details will score you more points (Hobbies, likes and dislikes, opinions on other characters, so on and so forth.)
- One prize per submission. Sorry but after my last contest I'm reeeeeally afraid to raise the stakes. I will if I must.
- All styles are welcome. Anime, chibi, you can use any dollmaker you want, cartoon style, Disney style, your own special style, realism, I don't care.
Mini Contest #1: Magnetic Characters
Desired:
- Monroe's Mother
- Ruby's Mother
- The Father
- Background characters (friends, teachers, bullies, admirers, whatever you think would further the story)
About Magnetic:
Monroe and Ruby (might rename the girl. Her original name was "Rudy", a boy's name.) They meet in high school and from the get-go there was something there. Both intelligent, both artists, both very odd and avoided by most people. Monroe was always very dark. He never seemed the least bit happy, usually brooding. Ruby was always happy, always an energetic, outgoing bundle of cheer and to a point this put many people off just by how much... sometimes, not always, she even seemed to be forcing this.
During class, Ruby just took an interest on Monroe's work, Monroe amazed anyone even came up to talk to the likes of him. Nonetheless, he tried to brush off the chipper young woman who refused to leave. Eventually he just let her do what she would and came to enjoy the company she provided. She'd ramble on endlessly about her home life, her dreams, her art and whatever else, Monroe only occasionally contributing. Ruby amused him at first and Monroe was just hilarious to her... and cute.
While Ruby did have some friends, for the most part they were alone. Ruby's mother detached from her and indulged in her own hobbies and Monroe and his mother were just always screaming at one another. Monroe's mother always seemed genuinely disgusted with him.
Their father was never around.
Given that they really came to depend on one another for support, for companionship... it of course turned to love and both deprived of it for so long of course in the heat of things it became... well, heated. Physical. In the midst of things, neither really thought it out, Ruby wound up knocked up.
At the hospital, the mothers of the two now young adults wind up meeting and all hell breaks loose.
Why?
They know each other. Way back from when they were fighting over a guy... one of the womens' husband and the cheating boyfriend to another, the father of Ruby and Monroe.
They are half-siblings.
I can tell you that baby doesn't make it though.
The parents really don't either.
All I worked out is that Monroe's mother and him do NOT get along and that they're either lower middle class or just nearly broke and that Ruby's mother cares more about appearances than her daughter and only sees her daughter's painting talent as something to flaunt to her friends. Her mother is the one that's married.
The father looks the most like both siblings.
And another thing: these two continue their relationship. And suffer for it.
Eventually dying in a way I haven't worked out.
I love these two but I can only so so much in a universe of just them and I'm not quite sure how to go about creating more.
Mini Contest #2: (Yet to be named.)
Desired:
- Anything goes. I especially want guys and gals to pair certain people with but we'll see. Besides, I also need some better large-scale antagonists and hell, even the plot needs help. I'll offer more unlimited until insert-month to anyone who can help me iron out this plot.
About:
The world's memory is wiped clean, basically. It's not one big plot so much as a series of stories following the lives of those affected by it. I'm using my Big Apple Babylon characters but not Mike's. I want to use them on my own because of how badly developed they were in BAB. The only thing most remember is their name and whatever evidence they have of themselves on their person when they wake up. Some of them still had their lives in tact but other people were so far from home and had nothing to find it with. Those people come together and live together to try and help one another out, remember, or at least survive.
The only one I really know about so far, surprising no one, is Tanuki who wakes up earlier on then many of the others after escaping an asylum.
And Tara who doesn't realize she's a mother.
Again, all needs ironing out but all characters are appreciated.
The only non-human characters I'll accept are ghosts. Those exist no matter what universe I have (even BAB in fact.)
So what do ya say...?
