Mo as Miyuki Phantom as Soul
Just a chance for some Soul and Miyuki interaction. Don't judge us. Just how Maka had roped Soul into going with her to the library was anyone's guess. The white-haired boy had followed her as far as the front doors, but would go no further. He left his meister in charge of gathering whatever books she needed and doing whatever it was she needed to do by herself. He wouldn't dare set foot in the library, and that was purely because he didn't want to. Normally he wouldn't have minded too much, but today Soul wanted to spend some time away from Maka. So, there he sat on a bench with one leg crossed over the other and his arms folded behind his head. "Tch. Who needs to go to the library, anyway? Maka's probably read all those books before. She should know all this stuff by now." Soul told himself. He could care less about why she was there. The fact that he had been dragged along for the ride was just annoying. Soul didn't want to have anything to do with it. Though, admittedly, sitting by himself was proving to be rather boring and, if he dared to say it, lonesome. He wouldn't admit the last part out loud, though. Soul was convinced he wasn't lonely. He simply... wanted someone that wasn't one of his friends to talk to. Yeah, right. Like someone is just going to appear from out of the blue to talk to you. Get real, Soul. Soul thought, shaking his head a little as he reprimanded himself. What were the chances that someone he didn't know would just happen to decide to talk to him?

((Oh yes. I has a big happy now. )) With a huge book clutched between both hands, and eyes veiled in large glasses peering intently at the text, Miyuki was walking slowly but surely toward the entrance of the library. Her books were about a month overdue, and she'd finally given in to the demand to turn them in. She didn't want to pay the fines herself. If there was a way Minami could have possibly been swindled into paying all the pink-haired youth's fines, Miyuki would have done it already. maybe she didn't have the heart, or was just too lazy to do so. Nevertheless, she was there, finishing up the last page of her book before turning it in to the public library. Until she found herself diving straight toward the pavement, head-first. She must have tripped over something, but lord knows she didn't know what it was. Could have been a ladybug, knowing how precarious her sense of balance was. Arms flailing helplessly, she gave out an embarrassingly loud cry of shock as she flew down onto the pavement with a rather loud and painful slapping noise. Her book went flying high into the air, landing right in between the pages, and in a stroke of bad luck, ultimately bending over half the pages and ripping part of the glue holding the laminated cover to the book. Well, so much for avoiding fines.

( Hooray for having a happy!) Soul couldn't help but look up at the sound of something, or someone, falling over not too far from where he was sitting. The white-haired boy looked lazily up from his spot and soon took notice of the pink-haired girl. Books scattered everywhere, the fact that she as sprawled out on the ground... she must have been the one that fell. Inwardly, Soul groaned. He couldn't just let her lay there. Something about chivalry, or just being a good guy, made that impossible. I don't think Maka would mind too much if you left your spot. Go ahead and help her. his inner voice told him. Well, that was a good enough reason for Soul. He moved his leg from its crossed position, pulled his arms out from behind his head, and rose from his spot casually. Leave it to the white-haired boy to appear casual. Before too long he had moved away from the bench he had been sitting on and approached Miyuki. "Hey. You okay?" Soul asked. He'd crouched down to make it easier for him to give her a hand in getting up, and to possibly help pick up the scattered books. He quirked a single eyebrow as he briefly looked over the fallen books. How could one girl read so many books at one time?

Aw, crap. Miyuki inwardly groaned. There I went and attracted attention to myself. Damn. "I-I'm all right," she defended herself in the same sugary-saccharine voice she used every time she went out in public. "Thank you..." She gratefully took Soul's hand, albeit without looking up at him. Huh... a boy with actual chivlary? What a surprise. Usually everyone these days has AIDS on their fingertips or something. However, when she did look up at him, she was pleashantly surprised. He was definitely a total pretty boy, no mistake about that. That was the style, sadly. But there was some sort of blunt, rugged feel about him that seemed... almost attractive. No, I'm Miyuki. Miyuki feels no love. Only hatred and pride. She noticed the now-damaged book and grimaced a bit. I wonder how much that's gonna cost. Maybe I can get this guy to pay it for me or something. ...Hm. That was a situation indeed. "Ah... my book," she squeaked, feigning disappointment. Well, mostly feigning. Fines were never something to be happy about. "...U-um... sorry..." Not really. "I just... I didn't see where I was going, and..."

"Hey, it's no problem. Count yourself lucky that no one else noticed." Soul said with a slight shrug. Inwardly he was glad that she didn't appear hurt. That would have made things more awkward. ...Wait, awkward? It was bad enough that he didn't even know this girl. Of course it was going to be awkward. He was just helping her because he was a nice guy. Blunt to a fault a lot of the time, but a nice guy nonetheless. Soul glanced briefly at the damaged book before picking it up and looking it over. It didn't appear too badly damaged, but given the fact that it was a library book someone was bound to throw a hissy fit about it. "Must be fate that I happened to be hanging around here while a friend of mine was inside. I don't think anyone else would have been so willing to help." he observed.
"...Do you need a hand?" Soul decided to ask. He would help either way, whether she needed a hand with the books or just in general. Soul had already gotten himself into the situation, so he might as well help all that he could.

"..S-sure..." Miyuki was a little suspicious of this development, but gave off a tone of gratefulness rather than skeptisicm. Like he had pointed out, she was lucky someone was even there. Caustic girl was still grumpy inside at being a victim of her own clumsiness, but swallowed her pride and let Soul hoist her up to her feet. "Thank you so much," she chirped after brushing herself off. Sort of. You're lucky I'm in a good mood today, otherwise I'd probably have already mangled your corpse in the bathroom at just the right moment. That could be pushing my luck if I did that, though, since today luck seems to have just gone on holiday. She held her hand out for the book and tilted her head to the side like a little bird, almost purposely trying to increase her cuteness factor. "Aren't you going in?" she asked.

"Nah. My friend probably would be all over me in a few minutes asking why I didn't want to come in with her."
"Can't. I was keeping that bench warm for a friend of mine."
...What's with the lame excuses you're coming up with? Just go in with her.
Of course, Soul's inner thoughts won in the end. He decided against making some excuse for why he didn't want to go in, even though his first excuse was probably the most legit, and decided to reply with something else. "I don't really have much to do in there, but I guess it wouldn't kill me to go along." Soul replied at last. He'd just have to be careful about Maka seeing him. The last thing he needed was his meister making things awkward by having her jump down his throat about why he didn't want to come in with her. The fact that he would be entering with a girl, one that he didn't know, would just tip the awkward scale completely.
"Don't think I've seen you around here before. Name's Soul." he introduced himself at last. Why hadn't he done that in the first place? ...Probably because he was too busy trying to help her.
