I'm not sure how many people on this board even know/care much about the Sonic fandom, but hey, it's a change up from dalmatian discussion and the intensity of the fans/arguments kiiind of reminded me of some of the 101D stuff we've experienced. Thankfully, to my knowledge, no one here is a Sonic fanbrat but there might still be some fans floating around and I wanted to know which side you prefer.
The Western side: Sonic SatAM/Underground/Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog and the Archie Comics
OR
The Eastern side: The video games (the characters, universes, relationships, not the gameplay itself), the OVA film, and Sonic X

Just for the sake of separation from the pole itself, I'm answering in a new reply....but I think it's PREEEEETTY obvious to everyone here I'm a die-hard Western Sonic fan. I DO still love the OVA film but that's it from the eastern side.
I'm all about SatAM and the comics....been reading them for ten years (as I'm sure everyone knows) and while I didn't watch SatAM until I was much older (never even heard of it until 2002-3 or so) I just love watching the freedom fighters in all their animated glory and voices <3 None of these anime stereotypes....*despises*

Western Sonic fandom for me ^^
Always loved the original Genesis games and Sat AM and Adventures of Sonic (Underground didnt grow on me) Besides that, rumor has it in Sonic Generations Princess Sally will make an appearence in the game. If this is true then Sonic's true gal will finally be in a Sonic game (not counting her cameo in Sonic Spinball)

I was a FORMER Sonic fanbrat, so I guess I have some say in this argument. XD
I haven't delved into the Western side of the fandom, so I can't say much about it. I've only read about four or five of the Archie comics, butttt what comcis I have read were pretty cool. ^^ I am a horrible horrible fan and have never wtahced any of the cartoons. So I can't make an argument about them. XD So I'll say Eastern-- it's the closest answer I have since I abandoned the fandom. I hate Sonic X, and... had no idea there was an OVA... and really haven't played enough games to make a solid argument about the canon of the games' universe. I love the games, even if they bring back bad memories of my fanwanking days. The original Genesis games are a blast to play (if frustrating), and Sonic Heroes and Sonic Riders are still two of my favorite Playstation games I own besides the Sly series, the original Crash Bandicoot, and the original Spyro trilogy. <3
...So yes. I'm a fan of the games, not much else concerning the Sonic franchise. I wouldn't touch the fandom with a fifty-foot pole if my life depended on it, not from what I've experienced. ._.;

yup and it would be a middle finger to the SonicXAmy fans too if Sally did appear in Generations especially to confirm SonicXSally as cannon in their faces

Eastern Sonic vs Western Sonic? Hmm...
Well I like first/original games, heck first Sonic game came out on same year that I was born. I haven't seen OVA movie and I don't like that anime.
I watched Sonic Underground as kid (boy, that was embressing to admit on internet). I have read couple of Archie comics. I like universes of Archie comics and it's former England counterpart Sonic the Comic/ StO Online.
I can't really desided. I'm not huge Sonic fan.
