If anyone's gone on google today, they may have noticed it's Mary Blaire's 100th birthday. Why am I making an announcement about this? Well, I'm not sure how many of you actually know who she is, but Mary Blaire was an artist/animator who worked for Disney (when Walt was still alive, I believe) for several years. She was more of a concept artist who worked with story-boarding and designs, but her art left it's mark, even to those who don't know who she is. She was the one who designed the world of Alice in Wonderland (the original animated piece), as well as designing the infamous "Small World After All" ride in the Disney theme parks. Her style is very soft, unique and beautiful, and did actually come to life in it's own animated short (perhaps more, but only one to my knowledge). There is actually a gallery dedicated to her work and time with Disney, in Disneyland; I've been there myself and it's really inspiring and beautiful. www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5S87NHrWqM(I didn't film it, but if anyone's interested, I'd check it out) So, happy 100th, Mary Blair! My your art continue to stand out amongst the Disney world for years to come.
