The winter spirit hadn't been sure what to make of the whole situation. He should have done something. Anything! He could have helped, he probably could have stopped it. The sound of the russian drew his attention back from his thoughts. He turned his head and gave a slight shrug. "You don't need to ask, its your place." he replied sadly, as he touched one of the windows, making a frosted image of the sandman.

Poor boy...for such a free spirit, Jack seemed to take failure very personally. Unsuspecting, North thought, though it may only appear that way due to fleeting interaction in the past. Jack Frost was not North's first choice in company, but he still felt the need to set the boy at ease.
If not as a friend, then as host at least.
"My place is your place." Santa Claus offered, melancholic echo in what he hoped was an understanding tone. The older Guardian waved his hand, joining Jack by the window sill. Round eyes saddened when they caught sight of Sandy's silhouette.
"He would be proud of you." Said North softly. "Not many have gall to stand up to Pitch like that."

"I couldn't save him though..." Jack replied quietly. "If I hadn't done something sooner, if i had seen what Pitch was up to, maybe i could have..." he couldn't even say the last words, it hurt too much. What was he supposed to say. Saved him? Would have Sandy wanted that? Pain filled his heart, it almost made Jack want to cry. But crying made you weak. He wasn't sure why he felt that but it just seemed like it would be something Jack would think.
Hoodie covered the white haired boy's face for the most part, so it would have been hard to see the pain in his eyes, unless North could sense things like that. But they did the right thing right? Helping Toothina with her job? He should have been happy, she was going to be believed in again. If that was true...why did Jack still feel drawn to what Pitch had said.
'We are not so fortunate...' those words echoed in his mind again.

"Jack."
Older man set a hand on his shoulder; meant to comfort, reassure. In a tone to match his touch, North continued. "There is only so much one boy can do. You saved us; that counts for something, yes?" He wished the boy would meet his eyes. Because they weren't as close as he was with the others, St. Nick was still learning Jack's behavioral...ticks. What made him work, how he thought...
A work in progress.
He did, however, know the pain of self-berating. He'd been young once, brash...
North would do what he could to pull his young friend out of that hole.
(Sorry it's so short >.<)

He knew North was right about everything. After all, he was right about a lot of things. It still hurt. Finally, Jack looked up at the older man, trying to figure out what to say. The comfort of having this man talk to him was enough to make him feel a tiny bit better. He wasn't sure why that was but he did trust north better than the others. Well, besides Baby Tooth. "Thanks..." he replied.

Jack didn't sound quite as convinced as the older man would have liked, but a damaged heart did not heal by word alone. He'd get there; would just take time.
North smiled down at him, squeezing the boy's shoulder a second time. "Is nothing. When one falls, others learn to stick together. Is how we grow from tragedy." A paternal fondness danced in the eyes of Father Christmas, nodding towards the door. "Like taking first step out into the world."

Jack couldn't help but give a small smile. What North was saying, it did make sense. A lot of sense. He should keep working hard, if not for himself, then at least he could try for Sandy's case. He finally stood up and grabbed his staff before following North.
"So, what do we do now?" Tooth asked, her voice filled with worry. Things were going to be harder without Sandy around. She knew that.

"First," North said with a smile, "you stop with the sulking. Little friend of yours has been worried about you." St. Nick pulled the door open, leading Jack down one of his castle's many pathways. Tooth's fairy companion hadn't left her Queen's side but the Christmas spirit knew she still worried for Jack. A reunion would help lift both their moods.
And besides, he should make sure the others were holding up alright. Manny had put him in charge for a reason, after all.

Jack couldn't help but smile seeing Baby Tooth again. "Aww, were you worried about me?" he asked, giving the little hummingbird hybrid a smile. "I'm touched and glad you are alright." Though as for Tooth and the Easter Kangaroo, he wasn't quite so sure about, how alright they were.
Tooth seemed to be grateful to have the winter spirit around to cheer up her little friend.

Tooth may have been. Bunnymund, less so. He nodded when North entered the room but paid Jack little mind. The lad did his best, yeah, but if he'd waited, maybe they could've done something... maybe if they'd stuck together, Sandy would still be here...
Baby Tooth, however, lit up like a firework, flitting over to the white-haired boy, blinking relieved bi-colored eyes at him. 'Of course I was worried!' she chirped, hovering in front of his face, 'You looked so sad, I thought maybe something was really wrong.'
North's head shook, paternal smile gracing his lips. He let the children be, moving to stand by the remaining Guardians. "How you holding up?" He asked, gently, steely blues meeting Toothiana's rosy gems. Of them all, she'd suffered the greatest lost: he'd inquire the Easter bunny after ensuring she still had hope.

Jack smiled at Baby Tooth, the small little hybrid. It was good to see her in such a good mood. "It's okay Baby Tooth, I'm fine...well as fine as I could be." he said holding out his hand for her to sit in. He felt attached to the little creature and it made him feel a little happier knowing she was there and that she cared
Tooth turned to North, her rosy eyes were still saddened. "It just feels so...empty without him here. I know he didn't speak at all, but i just felt better with Sandy around."

Baby Tooth did sit, still smiling brightly. She wanted him better so she'd keep up the good mood until he felt that way. 'As long as you aren't shut away from everyone.' She concluded, patting his palm with a delicate hand.
North, meanwhile, nodded solemnly, wrapping a strong arm around her shoulders. "Is perfectly natural. Sandy has been with us from beginning. We all feel empty with him gone." Bright eyes trailed to Bunnymund, catching an...odd look from the rabbit before it faded with a nod if equal seriousness.
"But," Santa Claus went on, looking up at the young frost spirit and his friend, "Our lives do not stop because one of us has passed. He would not have wanted that."

Jack couldn't help but laugh at baby tooth's motherly like gesture. "Don't you worry Baby Tooth, I'm not going anywhere. Not for a long time." he said, his blue eyes filled with happiness for a moment. The only thing still bothering him was Pitch. How were they going to stop him? But it seemed Tooth had beat him to the punch in asking that.
"So, now what? How do we stop Pitch? There's gotta be someway." she said

North thought a moment, dwelling on past encounters with the Nightmare king. "We know" he said slowly, "that a frontal attack does no good. Pitch is gaining power even now. To stop him..." He trailed off, then brightened, determination illuminating his fearsome features. "...we go to power's source. Bunnymund." He called abruptly, warming a slight twitch from the rabbit. "Easter is in few days, no?"
He nodded. "Yeah."
"Otlichno! That is solution." North'd bright eyes shot to each party; fierce, excited. "We do as we did with teeth. Give children reason to believe in us again."
The Easter Bunny's own eyes gleamed, carching on. "Ya know, mate, that might just work. Deliver the eggs, bring back hope."
Santa beamed. "Exactly what I am saying."

Well the childern would be surprised to say the least. After all, Jack had made it a snow day, so there would no doubt be snow left on the ground. It would be a snowy easter indeed. "I'm in." he said with a smile. "Anything to stop Pitch, it seems like Easter is the best we can do."
Tooth clapped her hands together with delight. "Oh boy! This will be so much fun, to see the smiles and everything!" she was practically dancing.
