Set during the film. Currently closed between Shadeprincess and I.
Tex: Pitch Black Bunnymund North Baby Tooth
--------------
Wasn't this a surprise.
Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, the Easter bunny and the Sandman. All in one place. All because of him.
How delightful.
"Finally have your attention, do I?" Pitch smirked, sharp teeth bright amidst the rusting castle. "It's about time."
Below him, North (the name chosen by St. Nick when among friends) glared, thrusting a sword in the air at...well, at him originally but Pitch was never one to stay in one place too long. Just as nightmares grew and expanded, so was he ever-moving, ever-shifting.
"That's the best you've got?" The Nightmare King laughed--voice an eerie echo. The laughter died, a nasty sneer taking place as he reformed behind the "neutral" party. "Cute."
Atop said neutral member's (Jack Frost by name) shoulder, the hummingbird-like hybrid squeaked, burying her tiny hands further in the fabric of his hoodie. She'd never seen this man--monster?--creature before, but had heard of him...everyone heard of him sooner or later.
'Jack!' She cried--the shrill jibber of a frightened faerie--shrinking as Pitch approached them, 'get back!'
Pitch smirked, gray-gold eyes darting towards the little thing, wicked smile wide and predatory. "What's the matter," he hissed, stooping just slightly, "afraid of the dark?"
Baby Tooth shook her head, but shifted closer to Jack's neck.

Shade: Jack Frost Tooth Fairy Sophie Jamie
Blue eyes glanced at the small creature making noises, he wished he could understand what the little oen was saying. But judging by the fact that she was hiding in his hood, it meant that this guy was bad news. He took a few steps backwards, keeping a grip on his staff, staring at the boogeyman, he probably woudln't have believe in him if the black being wasn't right in front of him.
He gave a tiny smile at Baby Tooth, hoping to keep her calm. "It's okay Baby Tooth, i'm not going to let him hurt you." his grip tightened a bit before turning almost angry blue eyes to the nightmare. "Back off!"

"Oooh a musketeer." Pitch clicked his tongue, eyes glinting dangerously. "Fear not, Sir Winter.'" He paused, and his tone dropped; as dark, soulless, as the robes he wore. "I've bigger game in mind."
Abruptly, the ground abruptly swallowed him. He reappeared on higher ground.
"LOOK at you." Laughed the Nightmare King, head held high, hands clasped behind his back, "shaken by my mere presence. However would you fare if I were to hold further power over you?"
"Alright, enough of this." Bunnymind--the Easter bunny--spat, reaching for his boomer rang. "I've abut had enough of you." With a grunt, he hurled the device up, aiming to strike Pitch down from his high horse.
But physical means do little against nightmares, and again, Pitch melted in the shadows.
"Nice try, Rabbit."
The Easter Bunny twitched, then snarled, green eyes darting about, looking for more than that drifting shadow. Soon as he took physical form...
"I wouldn't do that, were I you." Behind him, this time; further back. Closer once more to Jack and his companion. "Of course, Pitch went on, eyes darting to the ice-wielder. "Were I you, I'd have the world believing in me, wouldn't I?"

"Believing in me?" What did that have to do with anything? Sure, the kids couldn't see him and no one besides the other guardians, but did believing really have anything to do with it? Jack looked at the others for a moment, hoping for some clarification.
"Pitch, you've said enough! Return my fairies and my teeth now!" Tooth, the tooth fairy said shaking her fists in frustration. Her feathers were ruffled and there was much in her mind of just wanting to punch the nightmare king and not stop.
The winter spirit didn't have much to say but mainly absorbed the words Pitch had said. He didn't trust the Nightmare and it was obvious why he shouldn't but his words of beleving and games seemed to get in his mind

"Ah ah ah." Pitch scolded, holding up a dismissive hand at the flustered faerie. "I'm not finished yet."
His eyes never left Jack.
They wanted to tip the scales, did they? Stop the darkness, end the nightmares? Fine. He could play that game. Could very well tip them back.
"They didn't tell you, Jack?" Had the spectre any eyebrows, he would've raised them accordingly. As it was, Pitch turned up the theatrics, adding a tone of bitter envy. "You're only as visible as they believe you are. If children think you're --" a slight growl "--"'a figure of speech,' they won't see you. To them, you don't exist. Can you see that which is not real, Jack?"
North's face tightened, and on the Jack's shoulder, Baby Tooth's did the same, albeit for a different reason. Children didn't believe in Jack Frost?
"Pitch!" Russian man grumbled, "Leave boy alone!"
"Shut up, old man." He'd back down only when all hands were played. And his deck lay full beneath his cloak. Boogeyman turned back to the white-haired lad, still devious, still cold. "You see, Jack, you're the only one of them unseen by children. They believe in the Guardians. But you and I? We aren't so fortunate."

That was a lot of information to take in. He wasn't sure what to say. Kids didn't believe in him? Why? He made it snow for them for pete's sakes! He gave them snow days when they were bored and needed to get out of school. "And when were you planning on telling me this?" he asked glancing up at the guardians. Why was he always the last to know everything?
Tooth was surprised by this, he really didn't know. Surely, that wasn't possible. He had to have known there was a reason for why people just walked right through him.

"We thought you knew." North spoke up--always the most vocal (aside from Bunny and his tendency to talk himself into trouble, of course.) "Man in moon did not tell you?"
That befuddled father Christmas, in a way he didn't like. They knew--they all knew--who they were, why they were here and the rules and side effects that came with their position. Fill the air with hope, wonder, and joy...only children could choose to see beyond their centers. If they swore against belief in the Guardians--or those like Pitch and Jack (not like they were similar by any means. They were NOT)--then they would gain no more insight than the feeling brought by a Guardian's gift.
That Jack didn't know...
"Means nothing. There is reason for everything, Jack." Blue eyes narrowed, boring holes through the Nightmare's skull, "does not mean we let it take us down."

Man in the moon? He didn't tell him anything. Besides his own name. In fact Jack didn't know anything about his past, why was he even here? None of those things were answered. His grip tightened around his staff again, making his knuckles almost as white as his hair.
"Jack, don't listen to Pitch, he's known for being deciteful." she knew that Pitch was telling the truth, but the fact that Jack had no idea was still surprising.
The winter spirit glanced up at the feather maiden before turning back to the shadow man, his eyes narrowed, he was not about to let some boogeyman get the better of him.

"Deceitful?" Pitch echoed, mock-hurt flashing across his face, "What about my words are lies?" Facade faded, anger taking its place. "If children still believed in me, I'd have little need to waste my time with you." But they didn't. Hadn't for centuries. The "boogeyman" was but a myth, a...a JOKE at the worst of it and he would NOT stand for it any longer.
"I am not the one withholding information, like your precious "man in the moon." He shot a knowing glare at the Tooth fairy, then North, who bristled and growled beneath his beard.
Baby Tooth had kept quiet, unsure if she had any place in this conversation. While she did faerie's work, she was just that. A faerie. Not THE faerie. Her life force tied to Toothiana's, and her queen spoke better than the little hummingbird-hybrid did. Now, however, her heart twisted and fear snaked up her spine; small hand touching Jack's cheek, worried. 'My queen is right, Jack. No matter what he says, the boogeyman is bad news.'

Jack gave a tiny smile at Baby Tooth. Pitch, while his words did make sense, something about it. Well, it seemed wrong to listen to him. But, why was the boy starting to sympathize. No one believed in him? That didn't make any sense. Didn't children get nightmares? he place a hand on the small hummingbird hybrid giving the familiar confident smirk he had done many times. "Don't worry. I got this." though a part of him, wanted to just run right now. Go back to being invisible. Maybe it would have been better. But if he did, would he end up wanting vengance like Pitch did?
"No one would ever believe in you. They may have believed in you during the Dark Ages, but not anymore." Tooth replied. "And taking teeth and my fairies won't make them believe in you anymore than they did back then Boogeyman!" she said venomously . Though she came close to spitting at him. She should have been shocked by her own anger but she was more filled with hatred for the man in front of her.

Oooh wrong move, Tooth Fairy. Wrong move.
Hackles rose, an ugly look contorting Pitch's features. "Perhaps not." He hissed, cold and biting as Jack's frost. "but they won't believe in you, either."
Dematerliazing, phantom returned to the winter spirit's side, snarl gone, replaced with a deadly confidence. "It's time you felt what I have for all these years. Time you wallow in the dark for a change." A vile laugh burst from his throat. Game set and match.
"Welcome to reality, Guardians."

Tooth looked around as the Palace started to fall apart. This couldn't be happening. No! No! it was all just a bad dream. She would wake up any moment now. Her fairies would be back and the teeth. They would all be back. 'He can't do this, he can't do this! Childern have to believe! I want them to believe in me. Please..' she silently prayed, almost as if she could reach out to the childern of the world. 'Please don't loose faith in me.'
Jack stared at the sight, almost frozen in disbelief. What had this become? What had the Nightmare done? Blue eyes turned worried, towards the small fairy on his shoulder. What would happen to her? Would she disappear too? No. He wouldn't let that happen. "What now?" he called up to North.

Saint Nicholas shot a fleeting glance at Pitch--smug and frighteningly content--before returning to his friends: the silent Sandman, terrified Tooth Fairy and the agitated Easter Bunny holding her shoulder, supportive (if not furious, but that was no surprise.) Sharp eyes found Jack's apprehensive gaze, and his lips thinned; a tight, tense line.
"Now..." another look at the Nightmare. "...we go." Vague enough to buy them time. Simple enough to suggest anything.
"Yes, that's right," Pitch snickered, each word laced with sick amusement. "Retreat while you've still the strength to do so." Eyes found North's, whose expression hardened. This wasn't over. And even though neither knew what the other was planning, they'd far from reached "No Man's Land."
"Jack." Santa Claus called again. "Come."

Jack cast one more look at the dark nightmare and the crumbling tooth palace. This is was it took? For someone to stop believing in the Tooth fairy? It was all so much, but it was all powerful at the same time. Placing a hand on Baby Tooth, he sighed before leaping back up to join the others.

(Hope you don't mind my setting it here)
-------------
It happened so fast, he wasn't sure it had at first. His fellow Guardian, friend, consumed by a swell of darkness. It broke North's heart as much as it toyed with his beliefs. After so many centuries of safety and security, the Dreams-makee fell corrupt to Nightmares.
A light shown so brightly at long last snuffed out.
He wanted to scream, break something or lash out at the dark for taking his friend away. Had he still been young, impulsive, he would have grabbed his swords and charged headlong after it.
But the days of childish brashness ended long ago for St. Nicholas. He was the leader now, the caretaker. If he ran off into trouble, there'd be no one to keep his remaining friends together. They needed him. And he wouldn't let them - or Sandy, rest in peace - down.
The bearded man paused outside his workshop door; sudden drop in temperature telling him he'd found what he's been after. Knocking gently against it, North pokes his head in, speaking ever so gently. "Company?"
