Closed to me and Kitexa, as Partner and One. Later in the night after their scene in the movie.
How had he got into this again?
It was still just as much a mystery to Partner as it ever had been. He'd never been a social pup - hence why he had never been picked out by any human looking for a pet - although anyone would be hard-pressed to tell that now. Somewhere along the line, he'd become one of the figures responsible for looking after the ninety-five other dalmatians who were here, and while Partner did the best he could to live up to their expectations (although only with a LOT of encouragement from his sister Dusty), he still felt like a bizzarely wrong choice for the role.
He hadn't started out as anyone of importance amongst the pups here, of course; but then he'd greeted a newcomer named One and her younger siblings, and befriended her... and somehow gotten dragged in too as she became almost the 'mother figure' of the group. She just had... he wasn't entirely sure, just this way of making him feel more confident, even about the things he'd typically shy away from. Like caring for 97 other dalmatian pups.
Most of whom were asleep right now. It was something like one in the morning, and the Baduns had finally switched off the TV and were snoring on the couch. Without the screen to watch, the youngest fifteen had drifted away to sleep, and many of the others (those who had been awoken by that cat's arrival and speedy departure a couple hours before) were following their lead. Except for Horace's rattling snores, all was quiet.
"One?" he nudged the girl gently, unsure if she was asleep or not. He hoped not; he wanted the chance to talk to her, undisturbed by the close-to-100 other pups. "How long do you think we'll all be here for?" He hadn't voiced the thought before, but no-one bought so many puppies without some extremely good reason behind it, right?
