When I finish parts of the AU - as I write down a lot of it when I'm bored - I'll post them here. Feel free to look ^^
MORPHEUS MEETS HIS SISTER
The wind blew through the open window, starlight twinkling on the face of the baby unicorn lying in the crib. Cadence was almost giddy with delight as she stared down at the perfect little angel she and Shining Armor had created. She was a very light shade of bubblegum pink with a big curly mane. The mane reminded Cadence of cotton candy with its big fluffy curls, blue base and pink streaks running throughout it. Her eyes were half-closed, a brilliant shade of blue. She was perfect. Shining Armor lay on her neck and breathed in a sigh.
“We made that,” Cadence whispered.
“Yeah,” Shining Armor said, just as tired, “We did, didn’t we?” The two grinned wildly at each other. “Our little family’s just complete now.”
“Yes it is,” Cadence remarked, “We’ve got Morpheus, Ever Glow, you, me. It’s just perfect.” Speak of the devil, Cadence and Shining Armor’s heads lifted as they heard a little squeak from the door where it was being pushed open. There was a tiny Changlicorn standing in the crack of the doorway, a plush pony lying softly on his back. His green orbs were wide with curiosity.
“Mommy? Daddy? You’re back?”
“Yes, Morpheus,” Cadence said, “And we brought your new little sister.” Morpheus’ eyes shone in the dark, crystalized with wonder.
“C’mon champ,” Shining Armor said, waving a hoof, “Come see your baby sister.” Morpheus was paralyzed. He wobbled back, nervously. He shook his head, his flowing black mane waving in front of his pale gray flank.
“No.”
Cadence and Shining Armor looked at each other. Shining Armor moved forward a bit. “What’s wrong Morpheus? Don’t you want to see her?”
“No. No. No.” He shook his head violently. Cadence looked at Shining Armor and then moved to approach Morpheus as well who had removed the pony from his back with his hoof and was chewing on its ear.
“Honey, get that out of your mouth please,” Cadence said gently.
“It helps me relax.”
“Morpheus I don’t understand,” Armor said softly, “What’s gotten into you?” Morpheus continued to cut his fangs on the stuffed animal’s ear. Finally both parents were in front of him now while Ever Glow was still drifting in and out of sleep soundly. Armor had a slight feeling what this was about. He’d gone through a similar pouty stage when Twilight had come along. But Cadence noticed Morpheus didn’t seem jealous. He seemed genuinely terrified. “You know that just because she’s here doesn’t mean we love you any less, right?”
“I know, Daddy.”
“Then what-“Cadence shot her head to her husband, eyes narrowing. It was a ‘let him speak’ look. Shining Armor swallowed. “Tell us what’s wrong, son.”
“She’s…she’s gonna be ascared of me.” Both pony parents looked queerly at their son.
“What do you mean, sweetie?” Cadence asked.
“I don’t look like other ponies.” There it was. The statement they’d feared was coming. Shining Armor’s ears flicked back as he bit his lip. Cadence shook her head.
“Honey, it doesn’t matter that you look a little different…” she started, holding out a hoof to comfort him.
“I don’t JUST look different, mommy,” Morpheus huffed, “I AM different. My horn is crooked, I got holes in my legs and I got fangs. What pony has that? And I can’t do magic! All my friends at school can do magic but I can’t!” Morpheus sniffled and rubbed his nose with a hoof. “I don’t wanna scare the baby with my ugly face.”
“Oh MORPHEUS.” Cadence cuddled up next to him, scooping him in her arms. The little colt had already started to cry softly, hoping not to wake the baby. Shining Armor joined the pair and placed his arms around them, hugging them tightly. “Morpheus honey, you aren’t ugly! You’re nowhere near ugly. You’re the most handsome boy in the world!” Morpheus buried his head in Cadence’s chest, tears flowing softly. She pet his mane and hushed him softly.
“Little buddy, you’re cool to us,” Shining Armor said, “And we love you so much.”
“And anyone who says you’re ugly has me to deal with,” Cadence said, winking at him. Morpheus sniffled.
“But how come I don’t look like the baby…or you…or Mom?” Shining Armor bit his lip again and peered at Cadence. She shook her head and rubbed Morpheus’ head, kissing him softly.
“We’ll tell you when you’re older,” she purred, “All better?” Morpheus sniffled and rubbed his nose. “Ah ah ah,” Cadence chided, “Tissue.” She floated over a tissue with her magic to his nose and dabbed it softly. “Now all better?”
“Ah huh.”
“Okay,” Cadence said, standing, “Now let’s go see your sister.” Morpheus hopped up but still looked a little hesitant when he approached the crib. Shining Armor smiled, helping his son place his front hooves of the crib. The green orbs stared down at the little pony, wide and full of wonder.
Ever Glow's eyes fluttered as she looked up at Morpheus. She smiled and waved a hoof at him. Morpheus smiled back. "She's so little..."
"You were that little once," Shining Armor laughed.
"I was not!" Morpheus said, waving his hoof above the filly who was waving her arms trying to grab it. When she finally did, she stuck it in her mouth. "Gross! Dad!"
"It's okay, Morpheus, it means she likes you."
"Oh." Morpheus wiggled his hoof and Ever Glow laughed, letting free his hoof. Morpheus turned his head towards his Dad and Mom. "We're going to be a cool family..."
"Yes we are, son," Armor said, smiling towards Cadence who had happy tears standing on her eyes. "Yes we are."
