Little rp between Tex and me continuing the thread on DWoW. ^^
'It wasn't supposed to end this way.
They were suppoesd to be together. Yes, her father had to die, but...
But what?
"K-Kovu!" Kiara cried, burying her face in his stained maw. Tears dripped down her fur, mingling with her lover's blood. Why, why him? Why of all the soldiers in this war did HE have to die??
"I'm sorry" Sobbed the lioness, knowing he'd never hear. "I'm so sorry, Kovu..."
Kiara. *The voice was more of an echo inside her own head than anything.. but somehow just as real as if the young lion were standing beside her himself. Kovu materialized faintly beside his lover, a tentative smile on his face just like in life. One eyebrow cocked, as if .. he wasn't sure if she approved, oddly enough.*
At first, she thought the sun betrayed her. (common, was it, for the heat to fool the eyes). She blinked, once, twice...and still it...he?...remained.
A shuddering squeak wiggled from the teen lioness' mouth, amber eyes ablaze with pain and...something akin to disbelief.
'Why' she asked silently, 'why you?'
I'm sorry Kiara.
I'm sorry I had to go so soon.
It was Zira's fault..
*sheepish smile adorned his features, as if embarrassed to admit. Almost like he was stating that he'd tripped over a stone at the water hole.*
She took me by surprise..
I never expected to see her in the Pridelands..
'She?' Kiara's ears perked, a scowl knitting her brow. For a moment, she neglected the fact he was an..apparition, of some kind. "what - what do you mean..who's 'she?'"
Whomever they were...they'd hear of this. Right across their bloody maw, she'd send a message loud and clear
Wait.
She...
'He said...'
"Z...Zira?" Kiara's eyes widened, something cold churning her stomach. "Why - she's...you're the chosen one!"
Was.
*he shook his head with a gentle smile. Again, as if he were speaking of something trivial...*
When I left the Outlands, I relinquished that position...
She didn't like it.
Remember what they did to Vitani..? Well.. I was as good as dead to her. In fact, she meant to kill me... not Mauko... not Nuka's son.... when she came to Nottingham..
Kiara's shock grew, that sick feeling crawling up her chest. It...surprised her in ways it shouldn't but here he --the other he--lay before her, broken, lifeless...
/By his own mother's paw.../
"I..." She sniffed, and shook her head. This..this really shouldn't have...but it DID...for so LONG she'd looked to Zira as a mother, and even after that, a hero, of some kind...but this... /Tani, Kovu/ they all saw it, Kiara. Why couldn't you?/
"Kovu..."
I don't blame you.
*he shook his head again gently, offering her an equally gentle smile.*
"You should!" Lioness blurted, vision blurring once again. "I could have- if I didn't - you're dead!! You're dead and I could've stopped it!" If she'd only stayed that night..if she hadn't walked away...
"I could have saved your life..."
How could you have seen this coming? *he shook his head again softly, still smiling.*
None of us ever really know .. in life... what lies ahead ... I didn't even know..
Ahead...
He...
Right...
"You're..leaving me, then?" Squeaker than she'd have liked (you're a warrier, Kiara, stronger than--)
No. No she wasn't. Zira, yes...but she was not Zira. Would never be Zira...
"I-I'm not ready for you to go--"
I'll still be with you.
*gently, Kovu nuzzled the side of Kiara's face. His cheek went straight through hers, but the gesture was more one of comfort than that he ever expected to actually touch her.*
I'll be watching over you forever.
You keep living, and fighting..
And when you die... no one will ever come between us again.
We'll be together forev... haha... I sound cheesy don't I. *he grinned at her in a silly manner as if it were some awful joke.*
A shaky laugh, sniffling. He always made the silliest things amusing.. "Shut up..." she murmured, voice faltering as her heart throbbed. "...I don't want to wait that long.." but she..she wasn't ready to die, yet...but DAMNIT all, she felt that way inside.
You're strong. You'll make it.
/It's not the same/, she thought, but pushed a weak smile to her lips. "I love you.."
"I've always loved you...war be damned.."
I love you too Kiara.
*he smiled gently.* I wish I could've told you before now.
You're stubborn.. I know you. *he chuckled gently.* Even better now. You'll fight. You'll go on to fight Mother and confront her for what she did to me.
Because you'll get mad... you always do. *he chuckled again* you always get huffy when things don't go just like you planned.
"Can you blame me?" She made to nuzzle him, remembering in time he wouldn't feel it. "Still a princess, underneath." Not of the Pridelands, no but...
"Will I...see you again before I..." Die?
*This time his smile was sad.* I can't tell you that yet..
*the sadness lifted, and a gentle warmth came into his eyes.* But I'll be the first thing you see when you lift up your eyes in heaven...
I'll greet you with a smile. So you better smile back. =)
"Kovu..." She dipped her head, licking the male's cheek. (His body...she'd go right through his spirit.). "You always make me smile."
And I always will. *smiles* I love you Kiara.. never forget it.
True to her word, Kiara smiled back. "I won't."
*Gently, Kovu licked Kiara's cheek back* I'll be waiting for you Kiara... *And with that ... he gently faded away*
