"Why not? You said something highly amusing." Emily shrugged at him "And amusing things tend to lead to laughter."
Emily folded her arm, Loki was a gift. It was so easy to push him that it was very very amusing. Still, she knew she could probably carry on pushing but, for the moment, she needed him and as much fun as it would be to make him snap she had to focus on the problem she faced. It would be amusing but it would cost her.
"Time travel is not an impossibility but interfering with past events is. No matter how you try to play with the strings of fate you can't change a thing. Besides, if you did, by some miracle, manage to affect the time stream the. What happens next is often very messy and usually would result in death and then the time stream would repair itself meaning that all your actions are rendered moot anyway."

Again, Loki twitched. "Ugh! FINE. The rules of time are consequently complicated, you've made your point."
You're slipping, Loki...watch yourself lest you, too, fall into consequence...
His jaw muscles tightened, forcing himself to breath deeply, evenly; he would not be rattled. She would not rattle him. He was a god. He held power she could only dream of!
Finally, the fire in his eyes subsided, and he met her gaze once more. "You have made your point, Emily...now I believe it's time you tell me just what it is you want from me."

"What I want from you is quite simple, you have something that I lack somewhat. Experience." she said, the smug smile hadn't left her face "My alternate version has decided to join those Avengers which is a bit of a problem as I have no experience with them and am on my own. I owe that girl a fall and I always pay my debts."
With that she stuck her hand out towards Loki again, her strength finally recovered and she was ready to travel again. The sooner they could get to their final destination, the the sooner she could dispose of her saintly other half.
--------------------------
In another universe, Emily Clearwater appeared in the garden of Xavier Institute. Her nerves were frayed and her expression was grim. Ever since her doppleganger had appeared she'd been constantly on edge and far more jumpy than usual. Nearly everyone had noticed, especially James. He was the only person she had told about what exactly had happened, well apart from her father who she'd just visited.
Keep calm. Don't do anything rash and I'll keep a look out for her. You're going to be fine, Emily. That's what he had told her.
Emily stepped through the front door and made her way up to the library, her grey eyes sweeping the familiar rooms and halls. She need to talk to James. They needed to decide what to do next.

At the mention of the Avengers, Loki bristled. So that's what she needed him for...he couldn't say he blamed her. They both had a similar target (somewhat, anyway) and his experience (and power) combined with her ability to travel without a damned Bifrost...a dark grin wormed onto his face; any doubt pushed far back into his mind. He pitied those in their inevitable fallout.
"Very well then." The green-eyed god said, taking her hand in his. "Let us go...pay them a proper visit, shall we?"
Yes...there would be a fallout....there would be pain and revenge and everyone would see that he, Loki of As--god of mischief was a true force to be reckoned with!
----------
Emily? James called out telepathically, closing the book he'd been shuffling through. It had been several weeks since the successful return of Charles Xavier to the Xavier institute and after one very awkward, desperate and sliiiightly heartwrenching explanation, his family had finally begun to accept Charles back into their home. Granted, that did not come without its trial and errors; Charles was still learning to overcome fifteen years worth of conditioning instilled in him by Emma Frost and Magneto and the other X-Men in turn learning to forgive the elder Xavier for the harm he'd unintentionally caused them. But he was home, safe, and that was all James had really wanted for his father.
Graced with some free time, the younger Xavier had ventured up to the library, deciding to pay his old friends "Verne" and "Wells" a visit, when a strand of troubled thoughts hit his brain like a racket to a tennis ball. Having grown accustomed to her, he knew immediately they belonged to Emily. Em'? James called out again, layering his telepathic voice with concern, Everything okay?

Emily grasped Loki's hand tightly, twisting her fingers in with his to give her a tighter grip.
Everything was coming together, the stage was being set and all that was left was for all the pieces of the puzzle to fit together. Emily was sure that her plan would work, after all, she'd learnt from her mistakes with both The Doctor and The Master but this would be the grandest and biggest fall yet. She would be triumphant. She would eradicate her other half from time itself and, in the process, Loki managed to help her do away with those Avengers too then it would be an even sweeter victory.
"Have I mentioned that I quite like you?" she said before she puled them both into the time stream once more.
--------------------------
A small smile touched Emily's face when she heard James' voice inside her head. She was used to communicating mentally with him, she remembered how shocked and paranoid she'd been when he'd first done it but now it was almost as. Attalid as talking face-to-face with her best friend.
I just got back from talking with Dad. He's going to keep a look out for her but I think we might have to deal with her ourselves...Dad seemed really shocked when I told him. she replied telepathically, her smile dropping from her face He also said not to do anything rash.
She opened the door to the library and stepped inside, there was James as she'd known he'd be. This library was quickly becoming their favourite haunt.
"I think we need some help." she continued "So far we've no idea where she's come from or what she's up to."

An answer formed on his tongue but never made it further; that spiraling distortion overtaking him again the universe or whatever it was sloshed them around inside its mouth and spit them back out in yet another location.
The force of the deposit nearly sent him to the ground but he caught himself, determined not to fall. That did not, however, prevent the nausea from stirring in his stomach again "Ggh--!" He doubled over, bracing his hands on his knees and breathing deeply until he could speak without chance of vomitting. "Is there...is there really no better way to travel like that?"
------------------------
James stood, meeting Emily half-way. His features grew grave, golden eyes glistening with worry. "Help?" The teen echoed, mind flitting back to his earlier train of thought Outside himself, James was fairly certain no one else knew of Emily's true origins, much less her time traveling father and evil doppelganger. That didn't mean no one would believe them if they DID tell someone...after dealing with his father, James' family had been more inclined to listen to him....it just...didn't seem like something Emily would want. And he wouldn't do anything she wasn't comfortable with.
"I don't know who you're thinking of, Em', but no one around here has any experience dealing with Time Lords..."

"I only know one. A TARDIS but it'll never happen, so don't get your hopes up." Emily said between breaths "There's only one and you saw it not five minutes ago."
Her father was the only person in the universe who now possessed a TARDIS, just another part of her people that was lost during the Time War. Still, she didn't want to dwell on that, she had far bigger fish to fry.
She straightened up, and glanced around. She'd gotten them to New York although where exactly was a mystery to her at that particular moment...it must be somewhere in Manhattan because most of the taller building that she could see looked like a bomb had gone off somewhere near them.
---------------------------
"Well..." Emily stared down at her feet then back up to James "I...uh...had an idea."
She reached into her back pocket and pulled out a crumpled page from a newspaper, she'd hastily stuffed it there just before she'd spotted the TARDIS. Carefully she smoothed it out and handed it to James for inspection. It was dated May 2012, almost thirty years into the future.
"I think we can go to these guys." she said.
A series of pictures dominated the page, mostly of New York which looked like it had been turned into a war zone, which it had, save for the largest which pictured a group of people. The Avengers.
"I should've just left and then we wouldn't have to do this. Everyone would be safe." Emily said You'd be safe. she added mentally.

As his senses settled down and he straightened back up, the Norse god of mischief realized that this time around, he actually knew where they were. "Ah...this certainly looks familiar." Loki mused, taking in his surroundings with an almost...nostalgic familiarity. it indeed appeared as though a bomb had erupted within the city's center, but he new better than that: the destruction had been his doing, after all. His and an army that nearly succeeded but fell short due to a couple of goody-goody men in tights. How pathetically revolting...
Exhaling frustratedly as he surveyed the monument of his failed victory (or victorious failure, whichever was more disgustingly appropriate, Loki looked back at the girl again. "I take it we're here to pay my "friends" a visit?" He half-asked, half-stated, referring, of course, to the Avengers. His heart leapt with a dark giddy glee; so close...so close to revenge he could almost smell the blood in the air!
---------------------------------------------------
"No, Emily, don't think that." James cut in, gripping her shoulder. "You did what you thought you had to do, and that's nothing to beat yourself up over." Worried gold searched grim gray, mind open but not directly invading her thoughts. "You might be a time lord, Em" James went on, "but you're still just a kid like me. You can't be expected to handle all of this on your own. That isn't fair." Features softened into a sympathetic smile, releasing her shoulder, but still holding her gaze. "Besides, you helped me during MY craziest adventure; now it's my turn to do the same."

"New York, twenty-first century." Emily breathed more to herself than to Loki. She'd never really came here, everything was unfamiliar and so much larger than London, not that London wasn't a considerable size either, but she still looked around with a sense of wonder...even if the buildings were destroyed and the city looked in need of repair.
"I don't see why not. I'm sure a nice little reunion will be fun." Emily smirked, she could feel the same dark and bloodthirsty glee and he did, but she was looking for someone in particular. She hoped that her saintly other half was with those Avengers now, she couldn't wait to make her fall.
-------------------------
"But--" she began but James cut her off.
Emily bit her lip, trying to hold all her feelings inside. Everyone at Xavier Institue...they were her family in every way but blood. She didn't want to risk their lives because she had a psychopathic doppelgänger who wanted her dead and who was prepared to make those she cared about suffer. She couldn't live with the thought of anyone getting hurt on her account. No one deserved that.
And James, she met his gaze. Golden and grey. He meant so much to her, be probably didn't realise just how much. He was her best friend and she trusted him with everything...could she live with herself if he was hurt or worse? No, she couldn't think that way. She'd helped him with saving his father and now he wanted to help her. She just wished that he wasn't putting himself in so much danger for her, if she lost him then she'd never forgive herself.
She sighed and gave a weak smile. Her best friend...and she loved him.
"You're hard to get rid of, James Xavier." she joked but soon became serious again "I really think these 'Avengers' people can help. Maybe we should pay them a visit?" she suggested handing the newspaper page to him.

"Excellent." The demi-god answered, tilting his gaze towards the sky. Jaded gaze darted around until - ah ha! - he found his intended target. The modern sore thumb that stuck out amidst the partial rubble and dated buildings surrounding it. Stark Tower. While still looking worse for wear, the infuriatingly obnoxious billionaire that owned it had begun repairs, although only a single "A" (as opposed to "Stark" as it read before the invasion) remained on the building's side. Lips curled up in a sneer. Attack the queen ant, and its loyal little soldiers would be soon to follow.
"Since you've proven yourself able to teleport." Loki uttered, lowering his eyes to again meet hers. "Would you mind...?"
---------------------
James stared down at the paper. The article, the description of these Avengers, seemed exactly what they needed. "Damn..." he murmured with a bit of a laugh "they wear some pretty outrageous shit in 2012." Shaking his head, he handed Emily back the newspaper. "But they seem like heroes, and heck knows we could use a buncha them in this situation. Alright, Em'" he said with a smile. "Take me to the 2000s!"

Emily couldn't help the small snort of laughter when Loki's gaze seemed to stop on a particular building. She was used to ugly looking building back in Britain, sometime she thought that British people had no sense of style, but that building absolutely took the proverbial cake.
"Which blind idiot designed that thing?" she couldn't help but say. Still, she offered her hand to Loki once more, she had recovered faster this time because it was only a simple jump from London to New York rather than a trip from one world to another.
---------------------------
"That's what I though and--Hey! We don't all dress like that!" she cried in mock indignation, motioning to herself with her jeans, white and blue top and black converse. Still, she did chuckle slightly at the picture when she first saw it. So much for British stoicism.
She offered her hand to James "As you command." she grinned "Hold onto your lunch because we're going to 2012!"
And with that, she pulled them both forwards. She knew the way, she'd travelled so far and so extensively that she was pretty sure she could take them both anywhere with little effort. Still, she knew that James was probably not going to enjoy the trip, she made sure to carry motion sickness tablets with her at all times.
With a jolt, they landed. Emily found herself winded as she landed on the ground with what felt like James on top of her back and when she looked up she was greeted with the sight of several of the Avengers, at least she assumed that's who they were, staring down at them.
"Uh...hi?"

Loki scoffed. "The biggest idiot this world has to offer." He took her hand, marveling at how the loud-mouthed bearded idiots seemed to flourish in both this realm and Asgard, while those like himself--FAR superior and FAR more intelligent--were forced to jump through worlds and start a war in order to get what they wanted. Oh the unfairness of it all...
He took her hand, giving her the okay to transport them with a nod of his head. Those pompous belly-achers may hold their names high NOW, but that proverbial ladder upon which they stood was JUST as destructible as the Bifrost had been.
--------------
With a groan, James looked up, gold eyes meeting SEVERAL pairs of confused ones. One man--a shorter fellow with graying hair and dark eyes--almost looked frightened.
"Nobody told me we were having guests..." The twitchy man uttered with an uncomfortable smile.
James cringed.
"You couldn't have done that with a little more dignity?" He asked Emily telepathically, rolling off her and carefully working himself into a sitting position. "We're supposed to ask them for help, not freak them out..."
(XD; that was Bruce, by the way XD;; in case you couldn't tell.)

"That explains all." Emily replied with a smirk. Someone truly idiotic must have built that horrible thing, there was no other explanation but she didn't really have time to stand around admiring, or rather taking shots at, architecture.
She glanced at Loki out of the corner of her eye, he seemed to be thinking about something but she didn't say anything. Instead, her mind went back to her own plan. She needed to play this right if she was going to succeed. She needed to time her arrival perfectly. Too early and she risked losing before she even got to touch her other half...too late and she missed her chance.
Then there was Loki. What was she to do when she accomplished her goal? What would stop him from turning around and finishing her off? She gave the god another glance out of the corner of her eye. She couldn't trust him as far as she could throw him. She couldn't trust anyone but herself in the long run.
Just before she pulled them both forward yet again, she heard a rumble of thunder and her smirk widened. It seemed that the fun was just about to begin.
----------------------------------------
Emily sat up, rubbing her back where James had landed on her. She shot James an annoyed look, he knew that sometimes she couldn't help where or how they landed, she had scars criss-crossing her back to prove that. Still, she understood his point and looked back up at the man who had spoken.
I hope this works she prayedz
This was not going well, it would be a miracle if they could pull this off.
"Sorry to...um...drop in on you like that." she said with a slight tremor in her voice from nerves "That doesn't usually happen."
A diffrerent man spoke up, he had dark hair and a goatee...Emily knew his face. He was Tony Stark and of everyone, he seemed the least phased by her and James' sudden and unexplained arrival.
"Because people turning up from out of nowhere happens all the time." it was hard to ignore the sarcasm in his tone.
(>< Let the slaughter being, sorry Tony!)

(Remind me again; where ARE they? XD; Are they in Stark Tower? I assumed they were but I wasn't sure)
Loki's stomach turned again, but this time it wasn't due to Emily's barreling through space. He hadn't missed the rumbling thunder overhead and it filled his gut with a grinding dread. Thor had grown wretchedly aware of the mischief's god's whereabouts, and whether it was fa--Odin's doing or his own, Loki didn't know. He WAS aware, however, that when Thor showed up--and it was a "when," persistent fool--he would do his absolute damnedst to convey his disappointment with his "little brother." Not that Loki feared the Thunder god's wrath...but that hammer hurt something awful.
--------------
Tapping briefly into Emily's psyche, James pulled out the names of the group of men surrounding them. The first man to speak--the twitchy one--was apparently Bruce Banner. The one to use sarcasm was named Tony Stark. And the guy approaching them now, a tall blond that oozed maturity despite his young features, was Steve Rogers.
"This isn't a time for jokes, Tony." Steve stated, taking immediate charge of the situation. He looked down at James and Emily, suspicion shining in his eyes. "Who are you? Where did you come from?"
James' jaw tightened, activating his telepathy again and peering into the blond man's head. "He thinks we're gods, Em." He said mentally, glancing warily at her. Not that he could really blame Steve for assuming two young people appearing out of thin air may have an association with their past enemy (okay maybe he looked a little further than he meant to), but they weren't enemies and had to make that clear. "Please tell me you've got a speech prepared."

(Yeah, let's just assume their on a lower floor)
They were inside, Emily dropped Loki's hand as soon as they arrived and peered around. It looked like this whole building had been recently completed because there was still ladders, pots of paint and other tools lying around. Apparently the equipment had been abandoned and she was not surprised at that.
Even though they were now inside, Emily could still here the rumbling thunder as clearly as if she were still standing outside on the street. She knew that, eventually, someone would realise that Loki was missing but she hadn't expected it to be this soon...she'd broken him out what felt like only an hour ago. Perhaps the Asgardians weren't as hopeless as she had previously thought.
"Someone isn't amused." she noted.
-----------------------------------------------
Gods? Even in her mind her voice had been reduced to a nervous squeak Can't say that I blame them.
She didn't have a speech prepared in her mind, like James hoped, in fact she was sure that everything that came from her mouth would sound insane. Who would believe that she had an evil doppelgänger running around who was hellbent on causing her, and everyone she cared about, as much pain and misery as possible.
"I'm Emily." she began "Emily Clearwater and this is James Xavier."
"Xavier...as in Professor Charles Xavier?" Stark asked and he looked suspicious.
She didn't get a chance to start explaining as a large flash of lightning caused her to jump. A large blond haired man was standing there and Emily was sure that he hadn't been before. He carried a hammer at his side and definately did not look happy.
